COCAINE BEAR: BRING ON THE GREAT WHITE.

“If you ever see me in the woods fighting with a grizzly bear. HELP THE BEAR" - Mystikal. Unfortunately, these wide words cannot be applied to our characters in the 2023 comedy Cocaine Bear. Just when the supporters of Hollywood felt like we were receiving remixed versions of the same concepts, writer Jimmy Warden and director Elizabeth Banks shot the audience up with Cocaine bear.

Following the true B-Movie flow Cocaine bear is inspired by the true events of a black bear, who ingested 30kg of cocaine in 1985 after a drug dealers plane crashed. The movie follows the events after million dollars worth of packaged cocaine were propelled from a plane and scattered around the south. Some of which landing on a local Forrest area, creating a new favourite delicacy for a drugged out predator. Coked out bears, coked out kids, ambulance staff out of their comfort zone and drug dealers  on edge. Thankfully, Cocaine Bear blessed the audience with the final released performance by Ray Liotta after tragically losing his life in may of last year. The movie mirrors the story, the cocaine being thrown out of a plane, landing alongside the previously concussed and now crushed by gravity body of the assailant. Instead of being captured and eventually dying from cocaine related issues, the cocaine bear is thriving in its new discovery.

Cocaine Bear beat the curse of horror-comedies! Horror-Comedies always run the risk of failing miserably. In most cases either the ratio of horror to comedy is off, the bloodshed isn't bloodshedding or the writers jokes are met with awkward audience silence. Cocaine Bear most definitely beat the odds, despite being what could be the lucid dream of a coke head camping in a forest the movie met expectations. Is it Snakes on The Plane? No but it is Cocaine Bear.

The cast was truly an allrounder, so much so that the casting director definitely deserves some praise. The movie stars Ray Liotta (Golden Globe Nominee), Keri Russell (Golden Globe Winner), Jesse Tyler Ferguson (PrimeTime Emmy nominee), O'shea Jackson Jr. (Straight Outta Compton),  Scott Seiss, Alden Ehrenreich (Hail, Ceaser!),  Brooklyn Prince (The Florida Project),  Christian Convery (Sweet Tooth),  Aaron Holiday (Sharp Objects), Kristofer Hivju ( Game of Thrones) and many more talented actors.
