Hello and welcome to Cleo’s Corner. My name is Jourdan Cleo and this is my online scrapbook.

Initially being a writer or even a content strategist was never a career option, for the most part it was a hobby. It was a place that I’d run to in the back of my mind where I'd escape from reality. Displaying my work to the public started with sharing on social media in tiny bits, like the odd spoken word video on Twitter whilst I was in school. I kept the fact that I enjoyed creating pieces to myself for the most part, it was just myself and my little song/poetry book which is currently hanging on by a thread.

My timeline pretty much went like this:

2011: I started writing down my songs and poetry in my first notebook. I’d write when I’m meant to be doing homework or in the middle of detention.

2012: I would speak proudly about the fact I wanted to be a barrister. It wasn't to please my parents or loved ones. Instead it was genuinely something I saw myself doing.

2015: With the encouragement of my peers I began posting spoken word pieces on social media platforms. The reception and feedback that I’d receive was unimaginable. It reaffirmed the idea that not only did I know I was good but so did everyone else.

2017: I was accepted into university and was still dedicated to the barrister life.
2017: Two weeks before moving out of London for Uni I single handily planned and hosted my first event at 18. The event showcased upcoming performing arts talent! Performances from singers, rappers, poets and dancers. I invited A&Rs, artists, entrepreneurs and sold quite a few tickets.

2018: The dream of being a barrister slowly drifted away by the time I reached my second year of university.

2018: After successfully completing my first year at university I decided to change degree courses.
2019: I thank lockdown and being stuck in my room for where I am confidence wise today. In the first 2 months I convinced myself that I wanted to be a film producer/director. I researched internships abroad with Disney and Paramount. Then I later realised I wanted to trial screenwriting. Wasn’t much of a trial because it clearly stuck.
2020: I had two works in progress, two screenplays that weren't finished but I was pretty proud of.

2022: I had 3 works in progress and had actively gone out of my way to meet other writers. My first two screenplays were put on pause when I became fascinated with stepping outside of my comfort zone and wrote a thriller. Which till today is one of my best pieces of work.
2023: For the first time ever, I created and completed a screenplay in one week. (Don't worry it's been redrafted plenty of times since!), I also further developed the thriller from the year before and started working on my first dramadey. I began playing around with the idea of turning my very first screenplay into a book instead.

2024: It's now 2024, my last three screenplays (two of which are finished) are honestly some of the best pieces of work over ever put to paper. I'm in the middle of writing a book that would make my inner Wattpad child scream.

This year is about showcasing my talent, gaining experience and really making a name for myself.

This website is me taking a huge step in showing my dedication to my goal of being a screenwriter or even an all round-writer.

Am I nervous? Yes. Is my anxiety bubbling ? Yes. Have I ever been this transparent? No. Do I believe I’m capable of becoming a sucessfull screenwriter? One hundred percent.

Have fun reading x - Cleo
